A true entrepreneur in his own right, Doug serves a wide range of clients from virtually every industry sector, from self-employed professionals to large family-owned groups of companies. He enjoys working with clients on strategic planning issues and in developing and integrating personal financial plans with innovative business plans. He is a team player who can be relied on to bring the right resources to the table. Because he is a good listener and knows what questions to ask, clients often use him as a sounding board when they are considering new approaches, opportunities or plans. These same skills also serve clients well when Doug plays a facilitator role in their succession planning.
Doug is well known with Ottawa business people not only as the managing director of an innovative public accounting company, but also as someone who is active in politics and the community.
Doug has served the Ottawa community and his professional association for over thirty years. His community activities have ranged from co-founding the Ottawa Business Network in the 1980’s to becoming Chair of the Riverside Hospital in the late 90’s. In the year 2000 The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Ontario (ICAO) recognized Doug’s contribution to the community and his profession by awarding him fellowship status in the profession. Doug currently volunteers with the ICAO in communications and lobbying capacities.
At the heart of Doug’s success is his desire to be more than his clients’ accountant. This desire is what led to the development of McLarty & Co’s proactive and integrated approach to delivering financial services.
